How to photograph your zines Ready to photograph your zine? Here are a few tips, tricks and idea. White backgroundsYou can’t go wrong with a plain background. Keep it on themeMade a zine about a specific topic? Consider incorporating that into the background. Different coloursAlways a great way to make your zines stand out. Illustrate itHave you illustrated your zine? Why not illustrate parts of your photos. Small zinesIf you’ve made a tiny zine, put something next to it so you can show how small it is. Front and backThis is a great way to show the front and back in one photo. Big zinesSame with the small zines, consider how you can show its size. PlantsYou can’t go wrong with using nature as a backdrop. On themeThis is a great example of matching the background to the cover of the zine. Create a sceneConsider adding extra items in the background. When carefully chosen these will really elevate your photos. Different formatsDon’t forget to consider different angles, especially if you’ve made a one‑off. Film itThis is a really great example, you could also take photos of each step too. Multiple coversIf you have different variations, show them all! Flat laysIf your zine has little extras with it, like stickers etc this is a great way of showing it all.
